Current Topics This is a growing list of topics that members are interested in pursuing. Join us and add your ideas and energy. Community Gardens Representatives from Community Gardens are encouraged to become involved in this action group. We believe that a community garden can become a core component of a neighorhood, providing opportuntiies for much more than gardening. Some of our efforts related to Community Gardens are: - Working with the city to make road ends and other public land available - Garden matchmaking: helping gardeners and gardens connect - Compost classes at Community Gardens and developing neighborhoods, and composting through community gardens. Food Bank Two of our action group members come once a month from Port Angeles to join our discussions. They are OlyCAP employees and are helping us understand the needs of a wider range of our Olympic Penninsula population. Current efforts: - Developing a guide to donating fresh produce to the food bank - Visit to the PT Food Bank planned - Encourage gardeners to plant an extra row (or bed) for the food bank Food Preservation With our abundant harvests, many want to learn how to preserve our food for the off-season.
