Action Opportunities Food Resiliency What you can do to make local, fresh produce available to everyone? Plant a Few Seeds Plant a few seeds in your own backyard or in a pot on the porch. Once you start eating fresh food that you've grown, you'll want to expand your efforts. Go to the Farmer's Market Support your local farmers and encourage them to grow more, by buying your fresh produce at the market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Join a Community Garden Visit a Community Garden in your neighborhood and consider joining the effort. Start a Community Garden Do you have a group of neighbors who would like to start a new Community Garden? Is there a lot close by that you think might work, but you don't know who to approach or what questions to ask? We can help you understand the issues and sort through them. Do you have a piece of property that you would like to make available for others to garden? Perhaps you aren't sure about all of the details and potential liabilities? We'd love to discuss the possibilities with you. Plant Extra for the Food Bank While you are planting, it doesn't take much to plant a few more seeds with the foodbank in mind. We are working with the Jefferson County Food Bank to understand their needs and requirements for donating fresh food. Click HERE for more information. If you are interested in participating planting projects connected with the Food Bank, please contact us. |
