Holly Mayshark had an idea that grew into a garden.

Wayward Farm Neighborhood Garden was hatched from my longing to have more space to raise berries and potatoes and things that take larger garden plots. Secondly it was my hope to bring our neighborhood together and get to know each other. I feel the American nuclear family has created communities of great isolation.

As our plans started coming together I noticed something profound. The second notion of developing community clearly became the number 1 most important reason for me. It has been and continues to be a great joy getting to know and work with my neighbors. Some of them I had never even met before.

Our neighbors Carol Ann and Dana have been extremely generous and gracious in letting us use their lot. We are so fortunate to have their support and I think they are happy to see the land used.

This first year the project has seemed daunting and a bit overwhelming at times but the progress is incredible. Watching it take shape is a joy to behold.
