Share the Harvest

While you are busy, planting, weeding, and harvesting, please remember our neighbors in need. The Jefferson County Food Banks, a completely volunteer driven organization, rely on donations of fresh produce to provide food bank clients with adequate nutrition. As the growing season gets underway, please consider sharing the harvest, and donating fresh, locally grown food to Jefferson County Food Banks.

There are three easy and convenient ways to donate:

1. Donate to individual food banks.

2. Donate through OlyCAP, where the food will be taken to a main warehouse and then distributed to food banks. OlyCAP will be accepting donations Monday and Friday, 8 am to 3 pm. OlyCAP is located at 803 W. Park Ave, Port Townsend, behind the Goodwill as you head out of town. Tell the person at the front desk that you have a food bank donation.

3. Donate at the Saturday Port Townsend Farmers’ Market, 9 am – 2 pm, located at Lawrence and Tyler St. Put your donation in the Donation Station shopping cart that will be near the entrance of the market off of Lawrence St. Please consider supporting local agriculture, and buy a little extra food when you shop at the Farmers Market, and donate it!

Please help us measure our success! Before donating to any location, weigh your donation and record it here:

PLEASE...

•    Give your produce a quick wash before donating
•    Bring your produce in easily transportable boxes or bags
•    Consider what you are donating and the day of donation. If your produce is     starting to lose its freshness Tuesday evening, donate it to the food bank Wednesday morning. Do not donate anything you wouldn’t eat!

This is a great opportunity to participate in a unifying activity for a meaningful cause – rally your gardeners together and have fun growing food for Jefferson County Food Banks!
